The Worldwide Celebration of Plaid

October 3, 2014

Milwaukee Admirals Bob Uecker Jerseys

In February 2006 the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League made history. They roared onto the ice with these miraculous plaid jerseys.

The jerseys were a tribute to Bob Uecker, a former Major League Baseball player and currently an announce for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Apparently in the 1990s Uecker was in a series of commercials advertising the Milwaukee Admirals. In these commercials he redesigned the teams uniforms to a plaid that was reminiscent of sports coats Uecker wore in the 1970s and 80s. The jerseys paid tribute and were later auctioned off for charity.

We’re hoping the Milwaukee Admirals bring them back, permanently. Thanks for being so plaidtastic Milwaukee!

Isn't it cute how much this guy loves his plaid jersey? He must have been showing off his awesome jersey so much that the referee had to escort him off the ice.
